We all like to quote this scripture in reference to our marriage
“How should one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Except their Rock had sold them, And the LORD had shut them up?”
Deuteronomy 32:30 KJV
We like to think that in our marriages we will chase ten thousand together, that is, achieve great feats. Though many of us haven’t sat down as a couple to spell out what these great feats will be. But that’s not even the point of this post.
No one can do anything great without great strength at work in them. How much more for a couple who constantly have to juggle laundry, dishes, school runs, raising children, meals, work, bills etc., to name but a few.
Everyday you wake up and you start pouring out of yourself be it milk from your breasts or words to soothe a weary child. Overwhelm is like a next door neighbor and it’s very easy to feel “is this our lives now?” What about all the dreams of conquering the world that we had in courtship?
If you are not intentional about pouring into yourself daily, very soon you will have nothing to give to the few people in your life not to mention the thousand or ten thousand you want to chase.
That is why I find this prayer so healing and refreshing today

Before you jump into your day and unending activities, take a moment to pray this over yourself and your spouse.
Ask God to strengthen you to pursue not just activities for sustenance but His purpose for your life. That your eyes will continually see the prize and you will be strengthened to press towards it as a Christian, a spouse, a parent.
Strength is a must if you will fulfill all that God has ordained for your life and like Paul you can ask God for it today and every other day.
There are many hidden gems of needed prayers like this in Prayer Proof to help you live the dreams you’ve always had for your marriage and family.
